MetaFix® OpenWedge NEW
Locking Plate with Wedge
MetaFix® I is an locking plate osteosynthesis system (according to Dr. med. W. Diedrich Haesen, Medical Director of foot an joint The MetaFix® OpenWedge plates are uniquely designed with a trapezoid shape open block to better replicate the osteotomy cut of the open wedge procedure. This decreases the stress on the lateral cortex when using standard rectangle shape block plates that are forced into a trapezoid/triangle shaped osteotomy. It is available in 0 mm, 2 mm, 4 mm and 6 mm trapezoid block sizes. In addition, the block is not a solid block, it is slotted to allow for bony ingrowth or the use of bone substitutes inbetween the osteotomy. The proven MetaFix® locking design provides strong fixation and the surgeon may use either 3.0 mm or 3.5 mm locking screws. Temporary k-wire holes are available proximal and distal. The distal k-wire hole is placed in such a fashion to aid in holding the osteotomy in position by advancing the kwire into the 2nd metatarsal to assist in holding the osteotomy open. MetaFix® plates are manufactured of TiAl6V4 ELI.
