Resorbable Bone Screw
The Merete resorbable bone screw is made of the bioresorbable material PLGA (poly L-lactide-co-glycolide). PLGA degrades and resorbs in vivo by hydrolysis to lactic and glycolic acids, which are metabolized by the body. During the healing process, the affected bone segments gain strength, while the resorbable screw gradually loses its strength. They maintain their mechanical strength for at least 8 weeks and resorb completely in approximately 12-24 months thus eliminating the need for implant removal surgery.
